Scotty "The kid is a starrrr" B

Government name : Scott Bonnono. I call him Benzino, you call him Skute12. These Coors Light ads had me busting up. So many installments. I wish Law School Professors sound bites were half this interesting. Dude does Stand Up too? All those times we sat around the lunch table listening to Scoot crack wise jokes in high school's finally paying off.

Pt. 1(shown above) & 2 of this series cracked me up. We, the viewer, watch Scotty as he desperately navigates the confusing scene at Einstein. Dude is in Med School. In NY. Somehow, I doubt he's having trouble knockin em down like dominoes. Pretty good actor too. Bononno's the next Ken Jeong. And he was a college QB too? Dudes nastier than Macaroni N Cheese mixed w/ Tuna Fish.
Lastly, for an entertaining time, check out Bonnono's epic face plant here too

Jelani – Great Night

When I hear this song, I skipped forward to June. This just reminds me of summer. Throwback sound to Great Night that I really enjoy.

Jelani - Great Night

e-dubble – Written Thursdays (Mixtape)

e-dubble, did you forgot to sample anybody? nah? ok, didn't think so. Tom Petty (track #2), Black Keys (track #15), Parks and Rec intro (track #16), Guns N Roses, J. Dilla, Broken Bells and many more get sampled. I dig this and can't wait to see what e-dubble and the future have to offer.

God Bless Wikileaks

| The latest Douches to be p3wned by Wikileaks |

Fear anyone who discredits the important work Wikileaks is doing. Censorship is the root of all evil. Reports surfaced today that Usher, Beyonce and Mariah Carey received multiple millions in blood money in exchange for performing private shows for Libyan's leader Col. Moammar Gadhafi. Ah human nature, your a cruel son a bitch aren't ya?
Until all three artists make a public statement of apology and give all proceeds blood money earned immediatly back to charity, I will never support them monetarily. Although Usher, Beyonce and Mariah Carey are not featured on this blog that often, the seldom times they are, you can guarantee it will be as a free download, and never as an itunes link.

Macklemore at WSU last night

| That's a lot of Cougars |

Supposedly, this was before the entire crowd even showed up last night at WSU. Pretty sure Macklemore killed it. And to think, tickets for their SD show are only $12 at a venue that holds less than 500 people. I have a couple buddies that don't really dig Macklemore. That's all good. I'm pretty convinced, however, that these guys will win Grammy's within 5 years.

If you dig this, check out these other Macklemore tracks. I have been diggin this track a lot lately too.

Don't worry, they'll find a way to waste your tax dollars on something else.....

Just in case your still unsure where I stand, I think there should be a Planned Parenthood in or next to every high school and on the campus of every major university recieving federal funding. Tests for womens and mens reproductive health should be as accessible as liquor is. Think about it. Condoms should rain from the clouds.
Have you been to a college campus lately? People want to bone. Let them do it safely. Our government is ran by a bunch of 50+ year old white men, who..brace yourself......still think sex should never be had, under any circumstances, until marriage. Lets be rational and sensible here.
I'll be real with you, I used to be a very religious person. Having said that, I totally understand this subject/topic can be touchy and ultimately offensive to the religious folks out there. I really don't know how to persuade them that PP is a good necessity, as the influence religion has on one can be incredibly powerful. I get that. But that was yesterday, this is today. Let's be rational. If the events over the last few weeks in the Middle East have shown us anything, it's that, although not always easy to obtain, power truly does lie with the rationally based middle class.

In the US, it costs roughly $200,000 to raise a child. With that money you could....

  • Provide counseling for 5715 girls exploited by modern day sex slavery
  • Transport 91 children to the US to undergo lifesaving surgery
  • Give seeds to 11,764 families growing their own food
  • Build a home for 40 children orphaned by the HIV crisis
  • Ship and deliver 4,000 wheelchairs to the disabled.
For these reasons, I never want to be the father of my own child.

XXL fell asleep at the wheel in 2011

Am I allowed to call BS? Seriously, Lil B? Lil Twist? Diggy? Ah man, I think XXL needs a good talkin' to. Of that list, I would keep Mac Miller, Possibly Yelawolf and Kendrick Lamar due to their recent successes. I would add Jon Connor, Macklemore, TiRon, Curt@!n$, Tassho Pearce, ScienZe and Soul Khan. Weak list. There is a great spitter out there that is rightfully pissed that Lil B nabbed a spot up there. Great decision XXL.

'Day of Rage' may have witnessed 20 or more causalities

| Some reports have the death toll at 70+ |

Death is the consequence of voicing ones opinion? That's the stakes for being 'anti'government' in Libya. Moammar Gadhafi days are numbered. He knows. We know it. Hopefully this is a defining moment for the betterment of the people. Ultimately, it's the people that suffer in these kinda situations. Keep them in your thoughts.
The influence the internet/social media/facebook/twitter telecommunication/television has had in the last few decades coupled with continual modernization and citizen's boiling over discontent for their crooked leaders has led to what seem's to be a situation of power in numbers. RIP to the reported 20 or more that have fallen for freedom. "Today the Libyans broke the barrier or fear, it is a new dawn," said Faiz Jibril, an opposition leader in exile.
Their are no official (western sources) reports, but it's being reported that snipers from the Internal Security Forces in the eastern city of Beyida have shot and killed four. Uprising have ousted the leaders of Egypt and Tunisia. Is Gadhafi next?
I know a lot of people that are praying for a friend of ours right now that is in Libya. Won't reveal this persons identify, for obvious privacy/security reason, but they have been keeping us updated via social media networks (as have so many other citizens in these countries as their governments scramble to try to suppress their voices). The following is updates we have received from our friend.

Yesterday 2/16/2011 : I awoke this morning to a text message stating that all protesters not to "Dare threaten the powers that be", a mass text was sent to all people using Libyan Mobile Phone services. The City of Tripoli seems to be business as usual, however.

Today 2/16/2011 : Received a test message stating, "Live bullets will be fired on any Anti-Government protesters". Anti-Government rallies spreading in the SW of Tripoli, Pro-Government rallies spreading as well, but these are mostly made up of school aged children ages 9-19 from my observation. Two confirmed dead, growing unrest, television is absolutely censored.

Really really really appreciate the continual updates, as we are all praying and hoping for your's, and everyone's safety in the region. Not gunna lie, when I read "television is absolutely censored", it sent chills down my spine.

Facebook is more progressive than XYZ...

| Ya, we're about 500 years ahead of the Church, give or take. |
Social Media ahead of the curve? Not too surprising considering Facebook is ran and operated by our generation, seemingly a generation that doesn't buy into the same rigid social beliefs that older generations fall prey too. Facebook recently added 'Civil Union,' 'Domestic Partnership' to their relationship status. Good to see. It's almost sad to say this is a story, considering it's 2011. The earth is not flat, natural disasters are only acts of nature, the earth is not at the center of the universe, and over a thousand individual species exhibit acts of homosexuality in nature.

Banksy's strikes LA

We have a Banksy sighting. Los Angeles this time. Banksy's political art is cool, no doubt. The political activist's identity is unknown, but his message is not. Banksy doesn't believe graffiti is vandalism.....not quite sure if I agree with him on that one, but I sure respect the level at which dude is exercising his mental faculties. Really like the contrast used in  Banksy's artwork.

My name's Crosby Connolly, I was born and raised in Portland, Oregon and graduated from The University of Oregon in 2009. I recently graduated from law school. I'm currently (6/15/2012) studying for the California Bar. Law school sucks. Super intense. It's almost silly how stressful the institution is. TheJourney's kinda like my escape from all that. Independent [and signed] artists shoot their music over to myself and I post it in real-time via TheJourney. I sincerely appreciate you taking the time to check out TheJourney.

Iranian lawmakers condemn protests; call for execution of leaders

To live in a theocracy..... Iranian Press TV aired video Tuesday of lawmakers chanting "Moussavi, Karrubi ... execute them.", in reference to former Presidential Candidates Mehdi Karrubi and Mir Hossein Moussavi, whom the lawmakers claim incited demonstrations and protests over the weekend in Iran. Executed for organizing civil protest? Sure makes me appreciate the country I live in.
"Murdering is not Islam, and you are not observant. And you are not a Muslim" - Lupe Fiasco. The Iranian people want what we want. Freedom. We as Americans have a #!@$ ton of similarities with the Iranian people. Wish we could do more to support the burgeoning moderate middle class Iranian, who, out of love for their country, just want to see their theocracy replaced by a more rationally based system of governance.

Rihanna's 'S&M' Video sued for alleged Copyright Infringement

Rihanna is in some hot water. Fashion photographer David LaChapelle is suing Rihanna because her latest music video allegedly is "directly derived from and substantially similar to the LaChapelle works". Copyright Law is by far the most interesting topic I have studied in depth in Law School. I can tell you that Copyright Law serves an important purpose in protecting the right to copy and distribute an artists work. However, one need not go any further than LaChapelle's tweets to find out where this money-hungry duesche's priorities really are. He's in it for the money, plain and simple.
All ideas are derived from someone/something. Ideas should definitely be protected. However, at the same time there should be a heightened regulatory scheme for copyright protection, because, in my opinion, LaChapelle is just trying to cash in on Rihanna's artist rendition or reinterpretation on LaChapelle's work. More so, I am just weary of censorship, and I see Copyright Law as a gateway to heightened censorship.

Eagles place franchise tag on QB Michael Vick

Uh huh. Dude came back to the league and did what a lot of people said he couldn't do; dominate. It's good to see Michael Vick doing positive things for his community. I'll be honest, I really really really wanna give Vick a second chance. However, to be real with you, my affinity for animals supersedes my belief in '2nd chances', in this situation anyways. Your boy loves pets, what can I say?
To be fair to Vick, if he can stay out of trouble permanently from here on out, like he has thus far, I gotta be open to reflecting on my current stance on Vick, and maybe overtime, change my opinion on him.

Tassho Pearce - Q&A's with Hawaii's Best Spitter

| From Honolulu Hawaii, Tassho Pearce is set to take over in 2011 |

We were able to catch up with Tassho Pearce last week. Not an easy task. Tassho has been and will continue to be one busy guy in 2011. Dude was gracious enough to answer a whole slew of questions. Our article comes off the heels of Tassho Pearce's #Aloha Fridays weekly installments and in anticipation of his album HI Story, which drops February 28th.  You may have seen Tassho Pearce on the blog previously with this installment of #Aloha Fridays. Without further adieu....

Q: When did you start rapping? Has it always been your passion in life?

Tassho Pearce;I started rapping in High School, hanging out with my crew and freestyling. That eventually lead to entering battles. Somebody must have noticed the work we were putting in and we started getting booked for shows soon after.

Q: Who do you credit as your inspirations in hip-hop? in other genres?
Tassho Pearce: So much inspiration it would be impossible to list them all. Definitely was inspired by Nas, Rakim, Jay-Z, A Tribe Called Quest, and Ice Cube. Kanye West is my favorite artist. Other artists I like are Mat and Kim, Ratatat The Cure, Bloc Party, and Lykke Li.

Q: When was that moment when you were like "Ya, I wanna make a living off of making music"?
Tassho Pearce Not sure if I ever made a conscious decision to make a living off music. I love making Hip Hop music and I want to contribute to the culture.

Q: If Tassho Pearce could choose 1 Album and 1 Mixtape from 2010 that WE the fans need to hear, which ones would they be?
Tassho Pearce: My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy is one of the best Hip Hop albums in over a decade. The songwriting, samples, instrumentation and creative song structure is on some genius level shit. J-Cole’s Friday Night Lights was a dope mixtape.

Q: Will the Westcoast be getting to peep Tassho Pearce live in concert in 2011?
Tassho Pearce: I’ll be out there doing some work in March so hopefully some shows will go down then. LA has always showed crazy love so I definitely want to get back out there to rock with my Cali fam!

Q: Can you give us any information as to any new projects you'll be putting out in 2011?
Tassho Pearce:  My newest project Hi Story is dropping February 26th! I am 6 or 7 songs into my next album which will probably come out this summer.

Q: Your from Oahu right? Did you spend your childhood there? Have you always lived on Oahu? Anything you recommend us 'vacationers' to do if we are so lucky as to get to make it to your beautiful island?
Tassho Pearce: You should definitely check out the North Shore even if you don’t surf just to peep out the huge waves. Traveling Hip Hoppers can get their fingers dusty at Too Gruvs or Jelly’s record shops. If you want some authentic Hawaiian food check out Helenas in Kalihi.

Q: A huge fan of the blog (that shall go unnamed to protect her privacy) is curious as to where you got your inspiration for the track 'Starship'?
Tassho Pearce: I always loved Ratatat so when Bad News hooked up that loop I knew exactly what to do. I think we have some good chemistry so hopefully we can work on some original music together someday. lol.

Much thanks again to Tassho Pearce for taking time out of his busy schedule to answer a few Q's. Dude is a genuinely nice guy and has talent like Jesus Shuttleworth's got 3balls. Anybody that mentions Zapp Brannigan in their flow is cool in my book.

Bleacher Report has ranked Autzen Stadium as the #1 loudest college football stadium in all of America. You surprised? I'm not, look at the genius design of our stadium, it's built to capture crowd noise and not let it escape. You can bet the 2011-2012 season is going to be the loudest yet.

Ray Allen surpasses Reggie Miller in career 3-pointers made

Congrats to Ray Allen. He just surpassed Reggie Miller as the greatest 3-pointer stroker of all time. Ray Allen, aka Jesus Shuttlesworth from He Got Game is one classy and humble dude. Couldn't have happened to a better guy. My #2 favorite player all-time just surpassed my #1. I'v been rockin Reggie Miller jerseys since 3rd grade and trying to chase Ray Ray's stroke since middle school..... Something tells me Cheryl Miller could out wrestle both of them though.

Dr. Dre & Eminem Announce Their Performance at Grammys

This Sunday night. Should be pretty cool.  This is an Em track that Obie Trice added a verse to. It's a tribute to Proof. RIP. If your the kind of person that only plays a track for 10 seconds, do it @ 2:45. Pretty vivid image Em paints.
