ForteBowie - We Are The People Feat. Empire of The Sun (Prod. The Legion Music)

Few creative craftsmen can maneuver their music through the overpopulation of pride-driven punch lines and fraudulent freshness to penetrate the strict perimeter placed around today’s hipster heavy Hip Hop movement. The dance-dominated demographic of young emcees visibly emerging among a short list of premier penmen exposes the vulnerability of quality verses and passion potent vocals. Content can render popular persecution if not assuming the radio ready formula. Yet, with the prominence of abstract artists like Kid Cudi and Mike Posner complimenting avant garde rebel rappers such as Kanye West, there is a proven vacancy for versatile talents who vow to remain true self and create brilliantly skillful reels of reality.

21 year-old Atlanta-bred beat machine and hip-hop hybrid ForteBowie rightfully resembles all three through his fusion of sheer emotion and evident hunger, with witty wordplay and dynamic delivery. Classic samples lay the platform for an eclectic ensemble of productions that properly inspire raw recaps and true testimonies of a youthful genius -- vividly expressing the thrills, trials, and triumph that accompany chasing a self-made promise to pursue a purpose greater than life itself. Forte Bowie's forthcoming projects [2] are set to be released in November 2011 as edgy and unique presentations that will take listeners on a tour through the mind of a fast-rising music maven. Say what up to Forte Bowie on Twitter and Facebook and check out all TheJourney's posts on the dope emcee here.

Adele - Someone Like You (Official Video)

Adele, Adele, Adele. So beautiful you are. I have the biggest platonic crush on Adele. If you're someone who regularly bumps Nicki Minaj, Lady Gaga or Katy Perry, turn that down for a second and tune into our generation's songstress. Adele's music is unreal.

T-Pain – 5 O’Clock Feat. Wiz Khalifa & Lily Allen (Official Video)

About a week ago, T-Pain took to Facebook with 5 O'clock. A few hours later I released it via TheJourney. Then, a couple days later I was unexpectedly hit with an Digital Millenium Copright Act [DMCA] blogger notification. Check out what a DMCA blogger notification looks like here. It's essentially a claim from a private party demanding that Google [Blogger] take down the blog post in controversy because it allegedly violates the original copyright-owner's rights. A hefty charge no doubt, as Blogger has the contractual right to shut down a blog that incurs too many notifications.
The dumbest part is that there is little to no recourse. Google has no online forum or 1-800 number accessible to discuss the validity behind DMCA notifications. Nor does the United States Copyright Office.  It's an example of how far behind-the-times our current copyright law is. The validity behind US copyright law is not keeping pace with technology, circumvention methods nor social media. The artist himself released this music. There is no 'leaking' preemptively here. Ohhhh wellllll, I guess. Sh*t kinda annoyed me to say the least, just thought I'd share it with ya.

G-Eazy - Mercedes Benz (The American Dream) Feat. Janis Joplin

| "I'm stickin' with my team, I'm the rap John Stockton" |
After releasing Endless Summer last month, Runaround Sue's official video a few weeks ago, and now Mercedes Benz (The American Dream), it's a wonder if G-Eazy gets any sleep at all. One of the hardest working artists in hip-hop. There's a reason TheJourney spotlighted G-Eazy as one of the 12 emerging artists deserving of a nod from XXL's 2012 Freshman Class list. This Janis Joplin sample is too fresh. G-Eazy will be headed out on an upcoming US tour alongside Schwayze and MOD SUN. Also, in case you missed it, check out Run, which can now be found on Endless Summer and was originally world premiered right here on TheJourney. Here's G-Eazy on Mercedes Benz.
I was digging through my mom’s record collection and stumbled upon Janis Joplin’s Pearl record. I had heard Mercedes Benz before, but it had been a few years. It was one of those moments where I instantly jumped up, and decided it would be a dope song to flip. The concept is so relatable, and the passion is so present in her voice. The original is an acapella, so I wrote some chords and called my homie John Michael over to lay down some acoustic guitar parts down behind her vocal. I’m stoked on how it came out.

TheJourney Presents: BeN GZ- Sunrise (Prod. AKB)

As a music blogger, nothing's doper than having the privilege to post new music that your friends craft. As is the case with Sunrise. Considering AKB's currently in Cabo San Lucas making beats and playing professional poker, it's no wonder that both the insanely sick beat and the lucid artwork are proper reflections of his time in paradise. And on the emcee side, GZ proceeds to slaughter Sunrise, giving us a taste of his ever-evolving flow. The thing that impresses me most about GZ is his ability to take on both original production and industry beats. From J. Cole's Lights Please to AKB's Sunrise, it's evident that GZ should be accountable for multiple counts of murder in the first degree; murderer of beats that is. Peep all of BeN GZ's music here and all of AKB's production and artwork here. Reppin' the Pacific Northwest. Good music.

The Bad Tenants - When I'm Back (Official Video)

A few weeks back, I posted a couple of insanely sick tracks by The Bad Tenants. Grab them here. I also meant to post The Bad Tenants' latest video, When I'm Back, but between the hustle and bustle of school, life and researching new music, I somehow forgot to post it. My bad. When I'm Back has a really really catchy chorus. So catchy in fact that ADHD riddled viewers [like myself] should be sufficiently entertained throughout the entire 10 minutes. In related news, TheJourney is stoked to announce that we will be world premiering The Bad Tenants' upcoming album. Good sh*t. Major shouts to The Bad Tenants for choosing TheJourney as the exclusive blog to release their upcoming project. More info on a release date will be coming very soon. As an extra, check out TheJourney's prior World Premieres here.

J. Cole - Can't Get Enough (VEVO Official Video)

With the help of VEVO, Mr. Cole World No Snuggie goes viral with Can't Get Enough's alternative video. In case you missed it, check out the official video for Can't Get Enough, featuring Trey Songz, which went viral about a week ago, here. In your mind, is Cole World: Sideline Story a classic? Check out every J. Cole post on TheJourney here.

Twitter Blocks #OccupyWallStreet From Top Trending List

We are being manipulated. On Saturday September 17th and again on Thursday the 22nd night, Twitter blocked #OccupyWallStreet from being featured as a top trending topic on their homepage. On both occasions, #OccupyWallStreet tweets were coming in more frequently than other top trending topics that they were featuring on their homepage. Here's the kicker. Twitter recently received a $400 million investment from JP Morgan Chase. Blatant political censorship. A lot of times, bloggers [including myself] wanna keyboard warrior for their favorite rappers and ball players, but this is what we should be writing about. We are being manipulated.

Florence + The Machine - Shake It Out (Feat. The Weeknd)

Abel, known by most of us as The Weeknd, has been hinting for some time that he was going to take on Florence + The Machine second single, Shake It Out, which we featured on TheJourney here. There’s no actual vocals from The Weeknd, rather, Abel and his team remixed the song by offering different production. In case you missed it, last week TALWST and ILLANGELO [The Weeknd's core producer] world premiered their new track Peace Tonight exclusively via TheJourney. Good looks. Check out Peace Tonight here.

Florence + The Machine - Shake It Out (Feat. The Weeknd)

Th@ Kid - Xian's Interlude (Official Video)

Yesterday, Th@ Kid released his latest set of official visuals, this time taking on Xian's Interlude. If you're new to TheJourney, check out all of Th@ Kid's music here. Also, with a sound similiar to Xian's Interlude, you gotta hear Geronino. So good. Random fact: a friend of mine, whenever playing NCAA 2012 at my pad, always requests to listen to Th@ Kid. It's like clockwork. Dude loves Th@ Kid. Being the cynical prick that I am, that's usually about the time I turn on some Gucci Gucci and really f*ck with his day..

Greg Banks - Soul

Neo-soul artist and Louisiana native, Greg Banks officially releases his highly-anticipated single, Soul, from his forthcoming independent mixtape, A Gentleman’s Journal. Crafted with classic neo-soul sounds and a sensual vocal style, Soul offers an authentic, passion-heavy masterpiece. Faithful soul listeners have anticipated the release of Banks second single as it follows in a trail of praise and recognition paved by his first single, Magazine Street, and a recent collaborative single and music video with rapper G-Eazy entitled Runaround Sue — which has received over 170,000 views and earned a mention in Billboard.com's fashion column (Top 10 Songs We Want on the Runway for Fashion Week).
Having graced the stage with industry heavy weights such as Lil Wayne, Trey Songz, and Jazzy Jeff and being nominated for an mtvU Woody Award in recent years, Banks has proven to be quite the musical globetrotter, introducing an incomparable combination of style, finesse, and musical genius. On Soul, Greg Banks pays homage to Maxwell, Prince, and Smokie Robinson. Soul is a song about a woman Greg was in love with -- described as parable. Get at Greg Banks on Twitter and Facebook

Jared Evan - Hurt (Nine Inch Nails Cover)

Dammmmmnnnn, it's been a minute since I've uttered the name Nince Inch Nails. You might remember my ramblings last week regarding 1990's alternative rock. It seems Jared Evan's is a fan of 90's alternative rock too. Jared Evan's cover of Hurt is part of unCOVERED, a musical web series created by Jared Evan's that follows visual interpretations of classic cover songs, written and produced entirely by Jared Evan. Hurt has been on repeat while I study over the last 36 hours. Enjoy.

TheJourney's 2012 XXL Freshmen Predictions

| Pictured is XXL's 2011 class. Who will be featured in XXL's 2012 class? |

"Waaaaaiiiit. Where's Kreayshawn on this list? I demand answers!" Ha, I can already hear it now... but seriously, a lot of incredibly talented artists have emerged between 2010 and 2011. And with Kanye, Jay-Z, Eminem, Snoop and the rest of the old-schoolers well on their way to their 50's, a new wave of hip-hop artists is set to change the game. It's no secret that XXL has been known to make some pretty wack Freshman Predictions [See 2011: Lil B, Lil Twist, Fred The Godson], so bear with me if my predictions don't quite align with XXL's conclusions. I'd look for the following 12 artists to make some serious noise in 2012.

Logic -  The Maryland born young gunner combines lyrical wittiness with a sound that can best be described as a mix of a young Lupe Fiasco and a hungry J. Cole. Needless to say, Young Sinatra is one of the better projects of 2011.

The Weeknd - Although not an emcee in the traditional sense of the term, considering The Weeknd's buzz in hip-hop, it seems futile to leave them off the list. No one [certainly myself included] knew much about The Weeknd in 2010. And now? The Weeknd's largely regarded as the next R&B singer to blow up. Between House of Balloons and Thursday, is there any doubt that The Weeknd deserves to be on XXL's list?

b.FUNK - b.Funk, like The Weeknd, is not the most traditional pick for Freshman Predictions, as b.FUNK is a full band. But, considering b.FUNK's lead singer Brian Cole is as good of an emcee as there is in hip-hop, it's hard to keep them off this list. b.FUNK's probably the most musically diverse pick of the entire 2012 group. And it's easily conceivable that b.FUNK's a once in a generation kind of hip-hop group. My addiction to The Roots and Gym Class Heroes has been replaced by the sounds of New Jersey's dopest hip-hop group.

Phil Ade - A Different World resides in my top 5 favorite hip-hop albums of 2012. It's that good. Maryland is represented well on this 2012 XXL Freshman Predictions list, as both Logic and Phil Ade reside there. With lyrical presentations on par with any top emcee, and a voice that's made for worldwide notoriety, it only seems a matter of time until Phil Ade blows.

Macklemore - Last year, after putting out multiple mixtapes, Yelawolf was inducted into XXL's 2011 Freshman Class at the modest age of 30. As such, Macklemore is my [non-newcomer to the rap game] pick for Freshman Class 2012. He's also currently my favorite artist on the planet.

OnCue- To me, Feel Tall will likely go down as a classic. Timeless sh*t. A buddy of mine hit the proverbial nail on the head when he said, "Yo Crosby, I want something incredibly dope on while we play fifa 2011, turn on OnCue." OnCue's first taste of commercial success came 2 weeks back when Feel Tall was featured on Bing's commercial during The VMA's.

Skizzy Mars - Under the age of 19, Skizzy Mars' brings a new school flow with a style slightly similar to Childish Gambinos. With only a handful of songs available at the moment, it could be argued that Skizzy won't be eligible until XXL's 2013 awards. On the other hand, a compelling argument could be made that Skizzy is the most worthy of the Freshman nod, as he's the young gunner of the group, a newcomer of sorts to the hip-hop scene.

G-Eazy - What other rapper has put out an entire album sampling classic 1950's tracks? Endless Summer was great, but it's entirety of G-Eazy's discography [The Outsider was an absolute classic!] that leads me to believe Eazy's destined for the limelight.

Hoodie Allen - The Google geek turned emcee has one of the catchiest projects of the year with Leapyear. From The Chase Is On to James Franco, this album is chalked full of radio-worthy hits. Hoodie's one of the leaders of the new school artists, utilizing the social-networking game to amass more fans than a ceiling. In the process, dude is consistently headlining sold out shows across the country.

Timeflies - The Scotch Tape blended hip hop, house, indie, R&B, electronic and dub-step to create a uniquely crafted and superbly produced project. Like Hoodie Allen, Timeflies is a perfect example of the continual emergence of quality college age based  hip-hop that we're witnessing grow. The Scotch Tape is perfect for drinking nights, your iPod and during workouts. Triple threat.

Childish Gambino - The actor turned rapper has more bars than a state penitentiary, leaving him off the list would be dumb -- at best - and sacrilegious -- at worst. In my mind, with one of the craziest flows of the last 5 years, and Donald Glover's insanely clever alter-ego, Gambino has created his own lane in hip-hop. Freaks and Geeks.

Frank Ocean - "Frank Ocean but no Tyler The Creator? Justify yourself!!" No disrespect to Tyler's music, but I'm not a huge fan [yet, anyways]. No denying his buzz though, and if I was a betting man, I'd guarantee that Tyler The Creator will be on XXL's 2012 list. Now on to Franky. Frank Ocean, The OFWGKTA croonie has a similar story to The Weeknd's. From complete obscurity in 2010 to an overnight blog sensation by 2011. In 2010, none of us knew who Frank Ocean was. And now? Frank Ocean's soulful sound can be found on No Church In The Wild and Made In America [Sweeeet Baby Jesus!], two of my favorite tracks off Jay-Z and Kanye's iconic album Watch The Thrown. With only 1 album under his belt, I consider Frank Ocean still worthy of a Freshman nod.

Honorable mention - Th@ Kid, Kenton Dunson, Hona Costello, TALWST, Laws, Cobe Obeah, XV, Theophilus London, Azad Right, Theo Martins, Machine Gun Kelly.

Prior XXL Classes [2008-2011]
2011 - Meek Mill, Diggy, Lil B, Mac Miller, Fred Da Godson, Big KRIT, CyHi, Yelawolf, Kendrick Lamar, Lil Twist, YG

Azad Right - The Time Is Right (Mixtape)

Los Angeles buzzmaker Azad Right has hooked up with DJBooth.net to bring us his latest project, The Time Is Right. Download The Time Is Right here. I'm about 3 days late on posting this. My bad. Buuuusy week. But on the bright side [my attempt to mitigate my f*ck up..], the freedom of the weekend will allow ya lots o' time to analyze this 17 track street album. Joining Right on the guest tip throughout The Time Is Right are Luna Angel, EQ, Jenilee, The Bridge and Sofia Enggren. In addition to boardwork by the set’s Executive Producers, Professor O, Jonathan Marquez and Azad Right, the set features instrumentals by David Dann and Sinima. Below are my three favorite tracks off The Time Is Right. Azad's unique sound's right at home alongside the piano on Spiderwebs. He rocks out on I'll Be Around, one of the freshest samples in all of hip hop. Last but definitely not least, Santa Monica has the kinda radio appeal that'll keep your head bobbin' play after play.

Novi Novak - Real Talk 20

Novi Novak effortlessly flows alongside an otherwise dope beat on Real Talk 20. Good sh*t. Novi's amassed quite the social media following. Say what up to Novi on Twitter and Facebook and grab his latest EP, Aura of A Super Villain on iTunes.

OnCue - All The Way (Official Video)

All The Way is off Cue's upcoming project Can't Wait. Last night, OnCue previewed All The Way, and tonight he gives us it's visual counterpart. In case you checked outta the music scene over the last few months, check out Feel Tall, one of my favorite tracks of 2011.

OnCue - All The Way

Chiddy Bang - Mind Your Manners (Unofficial Video)

Chiddy Bang's Mind Your Manners get some well deserved (unofficial) visuals. Considering Mind Your Manners underlying beer pong theme, check out the pic below. I miss that Just Do It t-shirt of mine, and the custom painted Oregon Ducks beer-pong table that I made during college (with much help provided by Bryan Weissenbuehler). She didn't end up making the trek down to Cali with me for law school, but was a beauty nonetheless. Grab all of Chiddy Bangs' music here.

Kenton Dunson - Firestarter (Official Video)

Maryland-based musician, rapper and singer, Kenton Dunson and L.A.-based independent production house Pheonix Is Burning present Kenton Dunson's debut music video Firestarter, directed by William J. Bastian II. Firestarter will server as the lead single from Dunson's free album Creative Destruction, which has garnered over 100,000 downloads as well as critical acclaim from music blogs [including TheJourney, check out our review here]. Firestarter tells the story of two lovers who share a chemistry that very few experience yet lack the maturity and honesty to properly handle the emotions that come with it. Set to the backdrop of the always beautiful [and always eclectic!] Venice Beach, CA, this is the story of a love gone wrong and the realization that, sometimes, the person you loved the most is merely just a stranger in bed next to you. Firestarter is based on one of Kenton's own experiences. Always intrigued by the term, it wasn't until he dated a serial heart breaker, that it actually meant something to him. In his own words:
She was blazing a mean trail! Eventually she must have realized her faults because she later apologized saying she didn't mean any harm but honestly, when does that ever help? I'm actually good friends with her today so my goal is not to put that individual on blast but as you progress as a songwriter, you absolutely must allow yourself to express true emotion whether the subject is sensitive or not.

Karate Bear (Video)

I pretty much made Ray Allen's facial expression upon seeing this stick-yielding karate bear.

TheJourney Presents: TALWST - Peace Tonight (Prod. ILLANGELO)

TheJourney is proud to present TALWST's socially-charged new single, Peace Tonight. Peace Tonight is the third single off TALWST’s highly anticipated Illangelo (The Weeknd, Airplane Boys) produced EP, Alien Tentacle Sex. Grab the second single, Colors, here. Look for Alien Tentacle Sex to be available this fall. TALWST (pronounced “Tall Waist”) is Curtis Santiago, a multidisciplinary artist based out of Toronto and New York. TALWST has toured North America and Europe extensively and has performed with John Legend, Ryan Leslie and Consequence, among others.
Inspired by John Lennon’s Give Peace a Chance, Peace Tonight is a modern take on a classic message. A slow, dark beat sets the tone for TALWST’s earthy vocals delivering a simple request, “Talk about peace tonight.” The song is a call to action, to toss aside all bravado and take a stand. The track is being released on The International Day of Peace ("Peace Day"); established by the United Nations in 1981, Peace Day is a day devoted to encouraging practical acts of peace and cooperation.

Georgia Supreme Court declines to stay Troy Davis execution

I personally think he might have done it. But that doesn't matter. If DNA proof is lacking and witnesses come forth after the fact recanting and contradicting their prior witness testimony, you have to spare the man in the 11th hour. 137 other countries have outlawed the death penalty. Troy Davis does not live in one of those countries. Davis is an example of why the number should be 138.  In effect, we kill people [through lethal injection] as a lesson to others to not kill. Seeing as Georgia's Supreme Court declined to stay Troy Davis' execution,  he is to undergo lethal injection in 30 minutes (7pm).

Jazz Cartier - Losing Elizabeth (Mixtape)

Jazz Cartier's the second artist from Toronto that TheJourney's spotlighting today. Would you believe me if I told you Jazz Cartier was still in high-school? Hasn't even graduated high-school yet and he's got an entire album under his belt. What had you accomplished by your senior year in high-school? Me? not much. I was busy staring at girls and skipping weight-lifting class. Huge props to Jazz Cartier on that front.  Also, a big thanks to dude for reaching out and allowing me to preview Losing Elizabeth before its release. Download Losing Elizabeth here. Below is Strangers, Until We Bleed, quite possibly my favorite track off Losing Elizabeth. Get at Jazz Cartier on Twitter and Facebook

Skizzy Mars - Together

A few minutes ago Skizzy Mars took to his Facebook page stating, "‎500 likes on this status and I'll release 'Together'", and then, within 10 minutes, Together was released. Gotta love the kinda artist-to-fan interactions that are occurring through social media. Skizzy Mars' following is pretty crazy considering dude has only a handful of tracks available. Look for him to do big things in 2012. Say what up to Skizzy on Facebook and Twitter and grab all our features on Skizzy Mars here.

Raquel Rodriguez - Wildfire (Video)

Look for Raquel Rodriguez to be dropping a new set of visuals once a week for the next few weeks via her Twitter and Facebook page. This week, Raquel Rodriguez gives a dope rendition of  SBTRKT's Wildfire. Can you imagine how cool this would be live in-concert? A download link to Raquel Rodriguez's Wildfire is provided at the end of this video.

Macklemore Enters Key Arena (Video)

Macklemore and Ryan Lewis' will be giving us something new tomorrow. Until then, check out the love Macklemore received a few days ago at Bumbershoot in Seattle, Washington. That's the same Arena that Shawn Kemp caught alley-oop passes from Detlef Schrempf in. The same Arena where Jesus Shuttlesworth sank 3-ball after 3-ball and where Gary Payton made his legacy as The Glove. Mad respect. Check out 20+ blog posts highlighting one of the greatest emcee's to ever pick up a mic.

Logic - Young Sinatra (Mixtape)

No he didn't. Did he really? Yes he did. I grew up on 94.7 NRK (an alternative rock radio station in the 1990's in Portland, Oregon). All I used to listen to was alternative rock. The Refreshments, Bush, Butthole Sufers, Poe, Cracker, The Smashing Pumpkins, etc., etc. So when I heard Logic and Phil Ade take on Susanne Vega's Tom's Diner, I was pleasantly suprised. Took me back to late grade-school/early middle-school days. Damn, I'm old, ha. To me, Logic sounds like a mix of a young Lupe and a hungry J. Cole. Much respect. Check out Are You Ready, Shine On, As I Am, and Growing Pains II, below. Additionally, say what up to Logic on Facebook, and download Young Sinatra, here. Support the next generation of dope emcees.

B.E.Z. - Coastin & Fly Together

TheJourney Presents: Clay Hughes - All Along (Kid Cudi Cover)

The homie Clay Hughes recently dropped off a gem to the TheJourney in the form of All Along. Dope sh*t. Dude makes great music. For his latest release, Clay Hughes takes on Mr. Rager's song All Along. The other day, I was told by someone who has an ear for music that out of all the artists on TheJourney, they believe Clay Hughes has the greatest chance of blowing up. Mayweather v. Ortiz (Video Recap)

|Was the Mayweather v. Ortiz fight fixed?|
Were you watching the fight live? If not, grab the video recap below. Seemed kinda cheap on Mayweather's part. I guess they did hit gloves... but Ortiz didn't seem ready [nor did the ref]. The ref really dropped the ball. Like really dropped the ball. It sucks when the nice guy [here, Ortiz] loses. Oh well. The Kansas Jayhawks/US flag/Mexican flag shorts Ortiz was sportin' were pretty dope. Make sure you watch Mayweather's disrespectful post-speech rant below too. As an extra, check out Ray J and Fabolous' fight following the Mayweather v. Ortiz bought. 50 Cent grinnin' from ear to ear, ha.

The Weeknd - The Morning ft. Kenton Dunson (Chi Duly Remix)

Chi Duly, who recently moved from Oregon to New York, chops up The Weeknd's The Morning and recruits Kenton Dunson to do his R&B thing. If you're diggin the video, download the MP3 here. Check out Kenton Dunson's track Top of The World featuring Passion Pit here.

Talwst - Colors (Prod. ILLANGELO)

Right about now, I'm really hoping Anonymous was kiddin about vowing to kill Facebook on November 5. New music thrives in social-media. Fb [and Twitter] facilitate what I call the A to B relationship. Artist to blog. As is the case with Talwst. Dude hit me up on Facebook with some incredibly dope music out of Toronto, Canada. Check out his Soundcloud Page. Talwst's unique sound is right at home on ILLANGELO's production. You know ILLANGELO from his work on The Weeknd's Thursday and House of Balloons. Colors has a signature ILLANGELO sound, but with catchy lyrics and distinctive vocals, it's Talwst who carry's the track. This sh*t's dope. Look for Talwst upcoming EP to be produced by ILLANGELO. Support Talwst on Twitter and Facebook.

e-dubble - Life Coach

e-dubble samples Jamaican ska band Skatalites' Herb Dub - Collie Dub on Life Coach. This is a funky sample. I love it. You love it? "I Baaang Baaang Baaang On The Drum Baby" will be the only sentence I utter for rest of the weekend. Stuck in my head status. Say what up to e-dubble on Twitter and Facebook and grab all his music here.

Frank Ocean - Swim Good (Official Video)

One of my favorite R&B tracks of 2011 gets some well deserved visual treatment. Swim Good is off Frank Ocean's project Nostalgia, Ultra. As an extra, and because I appreciate ya checkin' out TheJourney, peep Intuition's incredibly dope remix of Swim Good.

Childish Gambino - Bonfire (Snippet)

| Childish provided no artwork, so check out Spongebob being detained after an altercation in Hollywood yesterday|
This sh*t makes me want to bounce around. Childish Gambino decided to leak a snippet of Bonfire moments ago. In case ya missed the news, Gambino's now signed to Glassnote Records (the home of Mumford & Sons and Phoenix). Camp is one of my most anticipated albums ever. Should be a classic. "My dick is like an accent mark, it's all about the over-E's.." Grab all of Gambino's music on TheJourney here.

EQ - Goodbye (Official Video)

EQ, the dude that brought us The Interview, is back with his latest set of visuals for Goodbye. EQ supplies a refreshing sound to the hip-hop game. I dig it. Get at EQ on Twitter @eqsounds.

New Sign in NY: does it cross the line?

It's as if the Metropolitan Etiquette Authority knew the best way to make this sign as racist as possible was to remove dudes shirt, leaving only his skin color to be associated with his demeanor. Considering this is government authorized, does it cross the line to you? Or, is it practical and necessary? To me, the sign screams irony. It's like.. "dude, were going to hellllla bust your balls for sagging, but the whole t-shirt off situation? We'll let that slide.." Also, if we're going to ban sagging, can we do away with skinny jeans too? I know you were thinking the same thing..

Frank Ocean - Thinking About You (High5Collective Video)

High5Collective drops the kind of visuals that could compete with any official video. Great cinematic quality. Their videos don't consist of alcohol, naked models and beaches either. Their clips tell stories. H5C creates the kind of videos that make you ask questions, and dare I say, actually think about what you're watching. Last week High5Collective tapped into [in an ultra controversial manner] Kanye and Jigga's No Church In The Wild. If you missed it, watch it here. Show High5Collective some love on Twitter and Facebook.

Chaz Kangas - Truth 'N' Stuff Featuring Alaska (of Hangard 18)

The power of the internet. I posted Childish Gambino's new track last week. Shortly after, Chaz Kangas, the guy that set up Gambino's impromptu show that facilitated that very Gambino track, shot me over some of his own work. Considering The Lion King's in theaters for the next two weeks, it only makes sense to highlight Truth 'N' Stuffz. Truth 'N' Stuffz is off Chaz Kangas' latest album A Personal Reference. Both Chaz and Alaska (of Hangard 18) kill it on Truth 'N' Stuffz.

J. Cole - Can't Get Enough Feat. Trey Songz (Official Video)

Mr. Nice Watch wasn't all J. Cole had up sleeve for today. Simba went ahead and dropped the official visuals for Can't Get Enough moments ago. If you missed J. Cole's previous leak today, Mr. Nice Watch featuring Hov, download it here. Cole World will be available for purchase September 27. Cole World, No Snuggie.

IG88 - Slowmotion Snowfall Feat. Isum & Jenni Potts

Interesting fact: I don't really make much $ off TheJourney, and outside of Jordan Shepherd's always-timely analysis on the Oregon Ducks, I run TheJourney by myself. Some would say I should be spending my time doing something more useful; like studying the practice of law. Cool beans. Wait, what was my point with all this? Damn you ADHD. Oh yeah, I remember now. The most rewarding part about running TheJourney is having your inbox filled with music you've never heard, but is nonetheless incredibly dope. As is the case with IG88's latest project Blackberry Light.
When Branden Clarke, aka IG88, told me that he made down tempo music, I was like, "Wha? That Sh*t Cray." But this sh*ts really dope. IG88 is part of a long list of incredibly talented artists residing Seattle, Washington. Seattle has definitely had it's effect on contemporary music. I mean, sh*t, Republican Presidential Candidate John Huntsman shouted out Nirvana's All Apologies, and Kurt Cobain specifically, during Monday's Republican Debates. Slowmotion Snowfall, featuring Isum and Jenni Potts has been on constant repeat around these parts. Support IG88 and checkout IG88's album Blackberry Light
