                 Don't be surprised to see some of your favorite sites begin to self-regulate and 'police' themselves with more scrutiny in light of yesterday's raids. Megaupload touted roughly one billion visits to their website, more than 150 million registered users, and nearly 50 million daily visitors, which accounts for roughly four percent of the total traffic on the internet. Interesting to note that Swizz Beatz (affectionately known as Swizz Keys), who's believed to be the Chief Executive Officer of Megaupload, was not named in the Department of Justice's 72-page indictment.

I diiigs this. Also, in case ya somehow missed it, yesterday was an experiment in digital democracy. History was made as thousands upon thousands of websites censored themselves in a defiant sign of dissent -- the likes of which had not been witnessed before. Google launched a petition. Wikipedia voted to shut itself off. Craigslist went to "blackout" mode. Senators' websites went down just from the sheer surge of voters trying to write them. NYC and SF geeks (also; lover's of free-speech) had protests that packed city blocks. Good shiiit.

              In an unprecedented display of compassion and kindness yesterday, the Pope attacked homosexual folks, stating, "This is not a simple social convention, but rather the fundamental cell of every society. Consequently, policies which undermine the family threaten human dignity and the future of humanity itself." Read the entire article here. Annnnnd it's these kind of irresponsible statements from peeps in positions of authority that perpetuate uneducated beliefs, discriminatory public-policy and outright violence. It also reinforces a 'bullying' mentality in our young, impressionable youths - kinda reminiscent of this 1968 experiment.
              In other (seemingly more rational) news, science is cool. Over the past few weeks, evolution has been in action through what scientists now believe to be the first fire-starting chimpanzee, and in the discovery of 57 hybrid black-tip sharks off the coast of Australia. “I shot and edited everything but the Wall Street sign at the beginning, most of the police and rally footage was from the mass arrests on the Brooklyn Bridge in early October but I spent 2 weeks at Occupy Wall Street in late September early October and there is footage from that whole time. 

I was very involved in the 3 week Wisconsin Capitol occupation last year that was instrumental in the foundation of the Occupy movement. Since then I have been doing a lot of documentational video work on the corrupt dealings of Scott Walker and his crew. Then when Occupy got started I went out there to do what I could.”
