I think [Trayvon's parents] are right to expect that all of us as Americans are going to take this with the seriousness it deserves, and we are going to get to the bottom of exactly what happened. Obviously, this is a tragedy. I can only imagine what these parents are going through, and when I think about this, I think about my own kids, and I think every parent in America should be able to understand why it is absolutely imperative that we investigate every aspect of this and everybody aspect of this, and that everybody pulls together — federal, state and local — to figure out exactly how this tragedy happened. I think all of us have to do some soul searching to figure out how does something like this happen. And that means we examine the laws and the context for what happened, as well as the specifics of the incident.

Despite the onslaught of Lana Del Rey remixes, when we then stumbled upon a unique way to incorporate her equally infamous "Video Games", it sounded too good to deny. We soon realized that doing so inadvertently combined two of the most talked about artists in recent months. The result is something that we have a hard time classifying: it melds melancholy orchestration, the seductive vocals of an R&B song, drum patterns reminiscent of Baltimore club music and other unexpected elements (Dilla fans should listen close!). So that was the other reason Rap Genius expanded, it was just because something needed to fill this gaping hole. Lyric sites are all run by these wack ass Russian mobsters and they’re all totally a joke. And blogs, music blogs especially, are completely horrible. Like, Pitchfork is a joke, I think the writing’s terrible. But if me or you wanted to write something for them, we’d never be able to get past the hierarchy.
